As I describe in "Inspiration for whispers of mystery," "mysticism happened to me" during 3 1/2 month period, ending with Hurricane Katrina on August 30, 2005. I had been diligently praying for a "quiet and gentle heart" and was given otherworldly synchronicities, glories, terrors, and sudden sicknesses that I called my "summer in the twilight zone." No one could explain what was taking place, and people wanted me either drugged or sent to a psychiatrist. About six years later, I learned of a concept quite distinct from my own tradition: "spontaneous kundalini." I've written about very little about this concept since I am not an expert; however, those who are and who have heard my story affirm my "summer in the twilight zone" to be a likely example this experience. Given the context of this summer for my other stories, the Inspiration post is a good starting one.
